Dashboard Settings
Click on the Rank Math setting inside "Dashboard", defaults to "ModulesClick on the "Advanced Mode" tab on the right corner of the page. Click "Advanced Mode" in the upper right corner of the page to switch to advanced mode, which will show more functions.
Here you can enable/disable the corresponding function. Set the enable/disable as shown below with text description below.
404 Monitor. When you open it, it will record which 404 pages visitors have accessed on this site. From the 404 record you can know what pages on this site have broken links to cause inaccessible, and then combined with '"Redirections" function to redirect 404 links to fix SEO problems.
Too many 404 pages have an adverse effect on SEO and need to be fixed. Here is a tutorial on how to fix 404 pages.
ACF: If there is an ACF plug-in installed on the open, can help plug-ins to identify the content of the ACF field text, help optimize SEO. no ACF plug-in installed on the close.
AMP:Close, if you have the AMP plugin installed, it is recommended to uninstall it.AMP has an adverse effect on conversions and Google has said it is not hopeful about AMP.
Analytics:Open, you can link Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics, directly in the background of the site to display keyword rankings and page indexing, very convenient and practical! The following tutorial explains how to link Google account and view data.
Turning on this feature will result in a larger database size, which will have a small impact on server performance (I think the impact is very small). If you usually view the data directly on the Google Analytics website or something like that, and don't need to view it in the backend of the site, turn off this feature.
bbPress & BuddyPress:If you don't have these 2 forum plugins installed keep them off, if you do have them installed turn them on.
Content AI:It is not recommended to open it. This is an extra charge function, analyzing keywords once for 2-3 dollars is very expensive, and you need to go to Rank Math's official website to buy credits before you can use it. We think Content AI is not very useful, a bit like specializing in cutting white leeks.
Image SEO:Open, very important feature. Automatically adds ALT and Title tags to images, greatly enhancing the SEO of the image and the page it is on.
Instant Indexing:Open, very important feature. Able to solve the problem of slow and non-inclusion of Google.
Link Counter:Calculates the number of inlinks and outlinks for pages, posts, products and other content for SEO scoring as well as recommendations. Opening it causes the database to bloat, if you are an expert know how to add dofollow external and internal links as per SEO requirements, close it. Otherwise newbies are advised to open it.
Local SEO:This function adds the appropriate metadata to set the site as athis localityCommercial sites, when users search in Google (Baidu does not work)this localityThere is a high likelihood that your website will be searched for when doing business.
For example, you are a flower store in XX city. After you open this function and set your store address and other information, if the residents of XX city search "XX city flower store" in Google, it will prioritize your flower store website page to the front.
It is recommended to turn it on if you have a local brick and mortar store or a local business, otherwise keep it turned off. If it's a foreign trade site it's not recommended to open it unless you have offices abroad.
News Sitemap:News sites (e.g. Sohu Portal, Baidu News, etc.) open, otherwise close.
Podcast:Podcasts, if you don't know what they are, it's optimal to always keep the default. If your site is a show, episode type, open it up to get into the Podcast search result rankings on Google, Apple, whatever. If your site is not a show, episode type site, don't open it.
Redirections:Redirection feature, must be turned on. It can redirect some wrong links to new ones and optimize the SEO effect. If you modify some pages, articles, products and other links, it will also automatically redirect the old links to the new ones, very practical.
Schema (Structured Data):Rich text structure, which must be opened, helps the page to get more rankings.
Role Manager:Turn this on to restrict Rank Math setting/viewing privileges for different role accounts on your website. If your website does not have different role accounts using Rank Math at the same time, you do not need to turn on this feature.
SEO Analysis:Open, this is an SEO analysis tool that comes with Rank Math that analyzes a website's SEO and gives optimization recommendations.
Sitemap:Site map function, you must open, help the site to generate a site map to facilitate search engine indexing pages.
Video Sitemap:Video sitemaps, which are recommended to be turned on, allow videos to be indexed by search engines to participate in rankings.
Google Web Stories:Don't open this if it's not a story type site.
WooCommerce:You must open this if you have the WooCommerce e-commerce plugin installed.
General Settings settings
To set up Rank Math, go to the "General Settings" tab.

Strip Category Base:When opened it removes the category names from the category URLs and has a beautifying effect on the URLs.If the old site has been indexed by the search engine do not open this function! Otherwise it will cause the category pages that have been indexed to not open.
If your website is multilingual and the URLs of the multilingual pages are translated into the corresponding languages, do not turn on this feature, it will cause the multilingual category pages to not open. If you don't know this feature very well, it is safest to keep it turned off.
Redirect Attachments:Enabled, this setting redirects URLs from attachment pages to the post they are used in. They will be redirected to the post with the URLxxx.com/post-with-image

Nofollow External Links:Adding the Nofollow attribute to external links, turned on, can avoid distracting page weight for SEO. This feature needs to be used in conjunction with the "Nofollow Domains" feature below.
Nofollow Image File Links:Add Nofollow attribute to all links to offsite images, turn it on, good for SEO.
Nofollow Domains:This setting is used in conjunction with the "NoFollow External Links" feature listed above. Enter the external links that need to have the Nofollow attribute added here.URL prefixIt is recommended to enter the following URL. NoFollow" attribute will not be added to links that are not entered.

Affiliate Link Prefix:If you don't know what it means, just keep the default ignore. If you have some affiliate marketing URLs and use the redirect feature to redirect the onsite URL (assuming it's A) to the marketing URL (assuming it's B), by default rank math will treat that URL A as an onsite link.
Fill in the suffix of the A URL here, the corresponding URL will be treated as an outbound link, and the attribute of rel="sponsored" for these links will be added automatically (if not already added) to comply with the search engine's guidelines for affiliate links.

It is used as a basis for hiding URLs, just type /go/ in the field, one line at a time.
Breadcrumbs
You can use Rank Math's breadcrumb function after you enable it, and you can add Rank Math's breadcrumb function to the page by short code. Generally only product list page, product detail page, article detail page will use breadcrumb function, the theme usually comes with it, there is no need to enable Rank Math additionally.
If you don't use this feature, just leave all settings on this tab as default and don't turn it on.
Images
This is an image SEO optimization feature that is very important.
Attention:The image optimization feature here only applies to images inserted into content (posts, pages, products)
Add missing ALT attributes:Turning on and adding Alt Attributes to images is very important for SEO.Alt Attributes are HTML attributes that are considered "alternative" text versions of an image that are displayed on a website when the image is not available or when the visitor wants to replace the text. These attributes can be very useful when people are unable to view the image in their browser.
The importance of the Alt attribute:
- Images that cannot be loaded: The Alt property is used to improve the visibility of a website and also to improve the user experience. If an image fails to load, the Alt can be used to understand the content of the image;
- Visitors with visual impairmentThe : Alt attribute is a key element of the Web for people who are blind or visually impaired. It provides text that can be read by a screen reader or any other program that reads aloud what an image contains;
- Search Engine Optimization: Sometimes search engines may not be able to access images on a website. Alternative text helps improve SEO by providing search engines with additional information about the content of the images on a web page.In addition, image search engines such as Google Images and Bing use alternative text to select the best images to respond to a search query. For example, when a user searches for a product on a search engine, it will display the best image consisting of detailed and relevant alternative text information.

Add missing image caption:Turn on, Add Missing Image Captions automatically adds captions to all images. Enable this option to add captions to images.
Caption format:This option is only visible if the previous option Add Missing Image Caption is enabled. Caption Format helps to define the format to be used for new captions. The default format is set to%title% %count(title)%

Add missing image description:Add missing image descriptions, turn on. This option will allow you to add descriptions to images that do not have any description set. Image descriptions help search engines understand images better.

Change title casing:Change the case setting, visitors can't see the change, so this setting is meaningless, just keep the default.

Add ALT attributes for avatars:This option helps to add Alt attributes to the avatars used in the commenter's profile picture and is recommended to be turned off. Turning it on doesn't help, it's mostly a personal preference.
Replacements:This option allows you to replace characters or words in alt tags, title tags or headings. It usually doesn't do much, ignore it.
Webmaster Tools
This feature allows us to quickly link to some webmaster tools without installing code or anything else, which is very convenient. Let us demonstrate how to use this feature to link the site Google Search Console (Google Webmaster Tools), so that Google indexed, included in the site.

The settings will be expanded, click "COPY" to copy the meta code.
Go back to the backend of the site, in the Webmaster Tools settings, and paste the copied meta code into the Google Search Console input box.
Go to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.
Then go back to the Google Webmaster Tools verification page and click "VERIFY" to verify. Verification is passed on behalf of the completion of the binding, if the verification does not pass the need to refresh the background cache, and then click "VERIFY" verification, try a few more times should be verified successfully.

Edit robots.txt
This shows the content of the robots.txt file in the root directory of the website. If the robots.txt file does not exist in the root directory, Rank Math automatically creates a virtual robots.txt file (which will not be displayed in the root directory) and writes the most basic rules to allow crawlers to crawl/include all pages.
robots.txt is a very important file inside the SEO, it tells Google and other search engine crawlers do not crawl / included in the site which within. Do not want to be crawled URL path written in, the crawler will not crawl the corresponding URL.
We should prohibit pages that do not want to participate in search engine rankings, or are of low quality, from being crawled. This will greatly reduce the workload of the crawlers and improve indexing results and site ranking results. You can also create a robots.txt file manually, upload it via FTP to the FTP site root directory, and edit and modify the robots.txt content there. It will replace Rank Math's virtual robots.txt file.

Turn on "Remove Media Data from RSS feed" and leave the rest as default.
WooCommerce
If the WooCommerce plugin is not installed, this tab will not be visible.
Remove base:This function removes the "shop" from the product URL and shortens the url.
When enabled: https://xxx.com/shop/product-1 becomes → https://xxx.com/product-1
Remove category base:This function removes the category URL inside the product URL.
When enabled: https://xxx.com/category/product-1 becomes → https://xxx.com/product-1
Remove parent slugs:Same function as above, except that this function is removed from the URLfatherCategory.
When enabled: https://xxx.com/category1/category2/product-1 becomes → https://xxx.com/category2/product-1
If all the above 3 functions are enabled: https://xxx.com/shop/category1/category2/product-1 becomes → https://xxx.com/product-1. It looks much better, if the new website is not yet indexed, you can consider suggesting to turn on these 3 functions.
WooCommercenot recommendedPerform the above three operations on product, product category or store URLs, as this will lead to performance problems and duplicate URLs. however, according to the study of short URLs on SEO benefits, according to their own website to decide to turn on or not, it is not recommended that small users to turn on.
2023.02.20 Update: After some of our customers' websites opened the above 3 functions, every now and then the product list page could not be opened or jumped to a certain product. After checking, it is plugin conflict or something like that which leads to link abnormality. Just modify the rank math setting and save it to recover.
If it still doesn't work reset the pseudo-static + go to the fixed link settings If it doesn't work, disable the other plugins one by one until the problem is solved. If it still doesn't work, disable other plug-ins one by one until the problem is solved. Remember to clear the cache and then refresh the front page to see the effect. White or do not enable the change URL function, the follow-up may be a whole lot of problems.
Note: The above 3 functions for deleting URLsold websiteDo not open! Turning it on will invalidate previous product URLs and create a lot of bad links. If you have translated the product url using the multilingual translation plugin, don't open these 3 features either. If there are sub-categories with the same name, opening those sub-categories with the same URLs will result in a conflict causing the category page to prompt 404.
Remove Generator Tag:It is recommended to enable increased security.WooCommerce outputs a large amount of meta information in the source code. While it can be used for diagnostic purposes, there are security risks. Here is how Meta Generator tags are displayed in the source code.
When this option is enabled, Rank Math disables the output of this meta-information in your web feed. This is actually a safety feature, so we recommend enabling it.
Remove Schema Markup on Shop Archives:It's recommended to turn it on, it's good for SEO, and Google does not recommend adding product schemas to category pages. In fact, they explicitly state that "Product offers should not be included in the Schema.org/Product tag on category pages."
The reason for this is that product schemas are intended to provide information about specific products, not product categories. When you add a product schema to a category page, you are effectively saying that all products in that category are the same, which is not true.
Select Brand:To add your brand information to the page code summary information, it is recommended that you select "Custom" and then enter your brand name in the Brand input box below.
Global Identifier:This is the product identifier, the default, don't touch it if you don't know it.
Show Global Identifier:Close. This option displays the Global Identifier on the product page. If you enable Show Global Identifier, it displays the Global Identifier on the product page.
Noindex Hidden Products:Turn on. If the WooCommerce catalog is set to hidden, search engines will not index products from the hidden catalog when this feature is turned on.
Edit .htaccess
This is where the .htaccess file is edited and is super easy to cause problems with the site. Don't touch it, ignore it.
404 Monitor
A 404 error occurs when a visitor tries to access a page that doesn't exist on the site. Turning on this feature will record which 404 pages on the site have been accessed by the visitor.
It's normal to update and delete content when the site is active, so every site will have some 404 errors.
It is normal to have 404 errors, however some 404 pages are caused by missing pages or URL changes. This can very much affect the customer experience and SEO results. So you need to record the 404 page data and use redirection and other methods to repair.
Just set it up as shown below, there's not much to tell.
Mode: At first, it is recommended to choose "Advanced", you can check the source of 404 URL. Know the source can be modified from the source of the URL, more useful than directed, efficient. If there are too many 404 links "Advanced" option will increase the burden on the server, so the site runs for a period of time after checking the internal 404 links is recommended to change to "Simple" mode.
Redirections
Redirection function, you can redirect the 404 page link to the normal page, fix SEO. set up as per the picture.
Debug Redirections: If enabled, the following redirection countdown box will pop up when you visit the redirected URLs, you can check which URLs will be redirected to. With the function of creating/managing URL redirections. Newbies should not enable, generally debugging, check redirection problems only use this function.
Auto Post Redirect:Must be enabled, when modifying articles, pages, products and other links will automatically redirect the old URL to the new URL, which can avoid a large number of 404 link situation, SEO is very helpful.
Analytics
This is the keyword ranking and indexing and other situation analysis function, you need to link to Google Webmaster and Google Analytics to get the data and then displayed in the website Analytics section. You need to link Rank Math account first, mainland website can't link Google Analytics, don't use this function.
Click the button to link accounts.
It is recommended to link to a Google account to get keyword rankings and other data. If you don't have a Google account, click Register Now to sign up for a free Rank Math account and click the yellow button "USE EMAIL & PASSWORD" to link to your Rank Math account.
After the link you need to go to Google Webmaster Tools to establish the site data (you must use the above link to the Google account login Google Webmaster Tools), to establish the data method to see the above Webmaster Tools Chapters.

Self-Hosted Analytics JS File:Enabling self-hosted analytics JS files will host Google Analytics tracking files locally (scripts are automatically updated every 12 hours), and it speeds up your site by eliminating the need for external requests.
Exclude Logged-in users:Enable to exclude logged-in users, which will prevent internal traffic from showing up in the analysis.
AdSense:After connecting your Google account using this option, you can view all AdSense data.
Analytics Database:Set the number of days to store website analytics data.Rank Math will automatically fetch data from Google Analytics at defined intervals, or you can fetch the data manually. In most cases, the default of 90 days is sufficient.
When you connect to your website, Rank Math obviously does not get any data from the Search Console. Therefore, we recommend that you get the data manually for the first time.
Rank Math will fetch the data and the metadata should be updated once the fetch is complete.
Frontend Stats Bar:Enabling it displays analytics data for the post in the foreground, such as search traffic, search impressions, page speed, etc., so you can get a quick overview of the performance of the post without having to switch between tabs.

HTML Sitemap
